With the aim of fostering human and social development within the nation, Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser founded the Best Buddies – Qatar initiative in 2008. The initiative aims to integrate individuals with mild to moderate intellectual and developmental disabilities into education, workforce, and the local community in Qatar. It works to provide an educational and social environment conducive to their integration into society, offering them suitable employment opportunities in line with their abilities and potentials. Moreover, it seeks to enhance opportunities for developing their social, cultural, and professional skills. The initiative operates under the umbrella of the Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities, in affiliation with the Qatar Social Work and the Ministry of Social Development and Family Affairs.
